Bird watching at the Fuente de Piedra Lake and Guadalteba Farmlands

Marco and I have spent a wonderful day with a good record of 57 different species.

Photo: Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus)

Have a look at many more pectures and the complete list of birds observed below!

The Fuente de Piedra Lake is looking fantastic after the rain. There was only a little flock of Flamingos on the north east corner of the lake in the morning, not far from the Visitors Centre, but they flew away from our bins though stayed within our telescope range later on.

Some other birds around here were lots of Stone Curlews, Cattle Egrets, Black-winged Stilts, Spanish Sparrows, Red-crested Pochards, Black-necked Grebes, Bluethroats and a Marsh Harrier mobbing a dark morph Booted Eagle.

The visit to the laguna Dulce was very profitable too, with five different raptors in the area (Red Kite, Peregrine Falcon, Common Buzzard, Marsh Harrier and Kestrel) creating a big deal of consternation among the Lapwings, many Cranes, White-headed Ducks, Ferruginous Duck, Calandra Larks, a lonely late Knot and a beautiful flock of Little Bustards.

You can also live these experiences with us !!!
